When moving from the greater NYC area to the backwoods of Deposit, I was expecting part of the trade off to be losing good food / atmosphere in exchange for gaining some peace and quiet. Thankfully, Craig and Sandra have allowed me to get the best of both worlds. I eat here every time I am in town. Not only is the food great, but the atmosphere is tremendous. It really is always astounding to me to walk into a restaurant full of people and life in an area that otherwise seems so quiet. I am so grateful to have found this place and I encourage anyone in the area to try it.
We had the BEST catering experience with Pheasant Tail Tavern. Craig made the process so easy and accommodated our group’s many dietary needs (gluten-free, vegan, and low FODMAP) with kindness and creativity! He thought of everything, took extra steps to ensure the food would be safe for all our guests and truly cared about the success of our event. The food was wonderfully fresh and tasty! We must recommend the smoked-in-house brisket! We would truly recommend working with Craig at Pheasant Tail Tavern to anyone looking for a caterer for any event, and to anyone looking for assistance in planning for dietary needs. Thank you so much, Craig and the rest of the staff, for making this such an enjoyable experience.
Waitress was great, food excellent just took longer than expected. It was very, very busy on Saturday night,
Great, a favorite with the fisherman. Our guests at the Troutfitter love it. Food, Service and atmosphere are just what you are looking for.
Stopped in for dinner and a couple drinks. The place is beautiful! Love the vibes! The service was great, and so was the food. The owner even came out and asked how the food was!
Slowly has gone downhill unfortunately. We have been here several times since they opened and always loved it. Food was excellent and service was great. However, we came in last night 4/22/23 - and were not at all happy. The menu no longer has dinners - there are only appetizers and sandwiches. We had considered leaving at that point but would've had a considerable drive anywhere else. We placed our orders for a cheesesteak, burger with no bun, salmon sandwich, and chicken BLT. 4 sandwiches - nothing wild. Our reservation was at 7pm and we did not receive our food until just shy of 9pm. We were there 2 hours before eating. We had walked up and asked our waitress and another to check on our food 3 separate times. They apologized and it was explained to us that the chef is new and is learning the menu, but the wait was nowhere near reasonable. We were given a $20 gift certificate but unfortunately, we won't be back. I'm sure anyone could agree that being at a restaurant for 2 hours before even getting your food is not reasonable. Such a shame - it really was a good place to eat in an area that really needs it.
Imagine being able to sleep at night when you’re charging anyone money for a “blackened chicken breast sandwich” where the meat is literally smaller than two pickles. Now imagine having any modicum of self-respect when you have a customer wait 45 minutes for this, (after waiting 25 minutes to order). It’s not possible. Hope the folks here are somehow able to find happiness in their lives.
Came in here for dinner while in the area and I’ll be back for sure! I am gluten free and luckily they label everything that is gluten free and can be made gluten free. The Lemon Arugula salad was filling and refreshing. My cocktail was also great. The prices are very reasonable.
